Sterilizing the Breast Pump

Question:

Does the breast pump need to be sterilized after every use? How often does it need to be sterilized?

Answer:

The breast pump collection parts (everything excluding the tubing, the tubing connector, and the base) can be sterilized after each use but it is not necessary every time. We recommend periodic sterilizing and while that depends on how often you use the pump but if you aim to sterilize at least once a month, to ensure a good deeep clean that would be sufficient. For daily cleaning:

● The breast flange and containers may be cleaned in the upper compartment of  your dishwasher or hand washed with dish soap in hot water. For best results, we recommend using a baby bottle brush or other similar small brush, to clean the container and a baby nipple brush to clean the insides of the breast flange. DO NOT use solvents or abrasives. Rinse with hot, clean water.

● All other parts of the Breastmilk Expression Set should be hand washed to prevent loss and extend their usefulness.

● To clean your breast pump, wipe the base with a damp cloth, using only water or mild soap.

● Do not wash or sterilize the tubing or tubing connector.

Best wishes,
