Hi! I'm interested in learning some new positions to help my 2 week old cope with my abundant milk supply. I'm working on block nursing to get the supply in line with her needs, but in the meantime, what are some positions I can try to allow her to nurse comfortably? We've tried laidback breastfeeding. Thanks!
Amber, thanks for getting in touch. A more upright position is helpful when milk is flowing fast--this is called the football hold. You can also try the side lying position as well as this will help with the flow as well and a little easier with a younger baby. You can also pump or hand express just a little to get to let-down so baby doesnt have that gush when let down happens and you can also have her latch on to elicit the let-down and then take her off while the rush happens and then relatch her.
