Breastfeeding

Question:

How long does it take for milk to come in after milk dried up?
TMy friend gave up because of inverted nipples. Now she wants to try again pumping her breast.

Answer:

Thank you for your question for your friend.  It really depends on the circumstances and this is difficult to triage from a distance.  It is possible to relactate but it deoes depend on circumstances.  It is also possible to nurse with inverted nipples but, again, this is best assessed with an in person consult.  We recommend your friend get in touch with a lactation consultant to discuss relactation  as she will take a thorough history of her breastfeeding experience and offer tips and guidance on next steps to take.  If she needs assistance finding an LC in her area, there is a locator on the ilca.org website   We wish her the best!
