Milk supply

Question:

I pump every 2-4 hours and I'm still maybe getting 3 oz of milk per breast and its going on 6 weeks. What's a better way to get my supply going?

Answer:

Nichole,

Getting 3oz of milk every pumping session when baby is 6 weeks is a pretty good amount. At this age baby's stomach is only about the size of a small egg, so it doesn't take much to fill their little tummies. If you want to try and increase your supply, you can try adding an extra pumping session during the day. Also be sure to stay hydrated and some moms have found that adding foods like oatmeal or herbal supplements like fenugreek to their diets can help boost supply.

All the best,
