Mammogram & Breastfeeding

Due to health concerns, family hx of bca & I had a lumpectomy in 2004, my doctor wants me to get a mammogram done wgen I quit nursing. Well, now that has been moved up to me needing to get my mammo done before Nov 6th when I go to KUCC (University of Kansas Cancer Center) to meet Dr Geier. She told me I had to quit nursing and wean my son. He is almost 10 months old. Do you know if I really have to wean just for a mammo?
We had such a difficult time nursing in the beginning. I pumped for 8 weeks before he decided to latch (2 days before i went back to work), we tried to latch 3x a day for 8 weeks. I wasnt in a pro breastfeeding hospital.
My first goal was 6 months. Then it was 1yr. I just decided a few weeks ago to let him wean when he is ready. Then i get this horribly scary news.
Please help. I dont want to wean just for a mammo. I'll wait until mammo results come back.

There isn't any specific reason that I'm aware of that require you to quit breastfeeding before getting your mammogram. It won't affect your milk or your production. I would possibly ask the doctor why she is advising you to stop breastfeeding.
