DNP Question

Question:

How many times a day should you change your nursing pads?

Answer:

Kristina,

The number of times a mom needs to change her nursing pads can vary quite a bit, because each mom leaks a different amount. In the early days of breastfeeding I would recommend changing after each feeding. Moms tend to leak more after a feeding because their milk is flowing, and in the early days when moms have a lot of milk, pads can become saturated quite quickly. Once your supply is more regulated you may not have to change as frequently, although I would not recommend wearing the same pair for extended periods of time (more than 4-6 hours).

All the best,

Molly Petersen, CLC
