Hi, I learned from my last child that I should scald my milk before freezing due to an excess of lipase. I'm wondering how cool the milk needs to be before pouring into the bag since that adds to the inconvenience/time it takes to finish with everything pumping related. Is there a fear of melting the bag? any concern for melting plastic and what that might add to the milk? (I know the bags are BPA free, but there are other chemicals used in plastic)
We would recommend allowing the milk to cool to room tempurature before placing it in the bags. There aren't any chemicals in the bag that would get into your breastmilk because of the heat. However for your safety in pouring the milk and because breastmilk should be cooled before placing it in the freezer, we would recommend waiting.
