When to Pump?

Question:

I'm a first time mom & my son is one month today. When is it the best time to start pumping?

Answer:

Maria,

A moms milk supply is usually establis by 4-6 weeks. So now that you have reached that point you can start pumping if you want to build a supply to have on hand for when you are away from baby. I would recommend pumping after your feeding sessions. At first you may not get much millk, but as your body adjusts to the extra demand you will start to be able to express more milk.

All the best,
