breast nipple

Question:

I am expecting my baby girl in 9 weeks this would be my 3rd child i breast fed the first 2 and without a doubt will be brestfeeding baby #3 when she arrives on dec2. 2013. Anyways my question is why does my nipple gets so dry with a caked hard stuffs on it? And how do i get it off as am scared my baby may swallow it while i breast feed he.

Thank you

Answer:

Audrey,

Most likely what you are noticing on your nipple is dry skin and milk. There is not need to worry about your little one swallowing this while feeding. You can use HPA Lanolin on your nipples after each feeding this helps them maintain their natural moisture and will prevent them from getting dry.

All the best,
