Are Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes flushable? What happens if I flush it accidentally?
Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes are not designed to be flushable, as they are not created to dissolve upon impact with water. Because its thickness is comparable to a paper towel, if flushed over time, there could be a build up, which could lead to pipe backups. If you have flushed just one of the cloths, it is unlikely you will encounter any adverse plumbing issues but we do not advise continuous flushing. We are exploring ways to make our wipes flushable.
What happens if my baby eats/chews on/swallows part of a Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes?
If your baby has ingested any foreign material, please consult your pediatrician or your local Poison Control Center for guidance. While Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes have been made using gentle ingredients, they are not intended to be ingested, and, although the amount of residue that the baby would ingest by chewing on one Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes is minimal, it is best to consult with your doctor or the local Poison Control Center.
Are your Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes intended for use on nipples/breasts? What if I use them on my nipple/breast?
Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes were developed especially for cleaning breastfed babies after diaper changes; they are not designed to be used on mother's breasts. With that said, these wipes contain only ingredients that have a long history of dermatological safety. In addition, prior to being released for sale, Lansinoh conducted extensive sensitivity testing with the formulation. In this regard, there is no reason why you could not use the wipe on your breast with confidence of safety related to any skin reaction. However, just as you would not want to expose your baby to chemicals, creams, lotions, etc, it is best not to use the wipes on the breast.
Do Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes contain alcohol?
Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes contain Phenoxyethanol, a non-drying alcohol. This organic chemical compound and a glycol ether often used in dermatological products such as skin creams. This is a preservative used in many cosmetics due to its ability to kill bacteria. Phenoxyethanol is not an irritant or an allergen.
I have heard that some baby wipes contain ingredients that are very unsafe like anti-freeze-do Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes contain anti-freeze?
No, our Lansinoh® Clean & Condition™ Baby Wipes do not contain any ingredients like anti-freeze or anything that is used to make anti-freeze. One of our ingredients, Propylene Glycol, is sometimes confused with Ethylene Glycol, which is a component or ingredient in anti-freeze.
Propylene Glycol is a safe and appropriate ingredient not just for cosmetic products, but also for ingested products like food and pharmaceuticals. It is on the US Food and Drug Administration list of ingredients which are Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) and is recognized by the World Health Organization as safe for use. It is the alcohol ethylene glycol, that is a common ingredient in antifreeze and which is, in fact, highly toxic but it is not included in our ingredients.
